Refocus

Have you thought about how you create your own destiny? More than likely you are doing it without realizing how you direct your own life. Some of this direction is instilled from childhood. We are expected to achieve certain accomplishments such as school and work, but we aren’t always aware of how much we control and what we don’t achieve because of our thoughts.

Do you know someone that is continually telling you how bad their life is and list all the things that go down a wrong path? It appears there is a dark cloud that follows them around and lady luck is missing in action. Can you also think of someone who always appears to be in the right place at the right time and you would not be surprised if they won the lottery? Good things just come to them.

Examine the difference between these two people and why their results are so opposite. What is their general attitude and outlook on life? Is one always expecting life to fail them and the other looks for the good in every situation? We all have moments in our life when we feel sad, lonely or unsuccessful and most often have good reasons. But the point is to not wallow and spiral down the abyss of a negative attitude. It will become a habit. As hard as it may be at the time we need to look for the positive and be thankful for all the good in our life. If your constant perception is how bad and difficult life has become, then you will live your words. Now you may believe this is a lot of nonsense but think back on low times of your life and what your outlook was for the future. Now look at the positive moments of your life and what your thoughts were going forward. Most often our thoughts lead us in a direction. I have known many people who have let their thoughts send them into more drama and others to great success. It’s a choice we can make.

The quote by Mahatma Gandhi, “Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny,” is a perfect example of how we fall into a rabbit hole by letting our thoughts run out of control.

We cannot control everything in our daily life, but we can work on our thoughts and beliefs about our self. Look for the positive in the situation. Stop believing the world is out to keep you down. Cut yourself some slack and look for what makes you the special person you are.

November is our time to celebrate Thanksgiving and we can begin now to give thanks for the good in our daily living. Take the time to note all the wonderful blessings you have today. Start each day with affirmations about what you can look forward to that day. Over time this will become a habit and lead to a more optimistic outlook. You will see new avenues of opportunities open and dreams and ideas will become realities.
