Digging Deep

As some of you know I finished my first book. Since the day I published the book, many friends have told me they want to write a book but don’t know where to start. They never pursue writing by sitting down and putting pencil to paper, or like me, typing like a madwoman in my tiny office. They don’t dig deep inside themselves to commit to the project or have the discipline to give the time and effort it takes. Over my lifetime I have had discipline when needed. Once I decide I will follow through with whatever I want to do. The book I have published was one of those projects. It all started with a journal to work out emotions during the last few months of my mother’s life. I soon realized that I was writing more than my feelings and a mental light bulb went off. Racing to Nowhere

A few days ago I was driving to the office and coming up on a left turn. The traffic was so heavy that I could not get into the left turn lane which was long and quite empty. I needed about a half of car length to move forward and into the other lane. Because the space was too tight I was stuck and had to wait. All of a sudden a big pickup truck came up behind me and jumped the curve and drove around me into the dirt and over to the turn lane. He raced down the empty lane to the intersection. About that same time the traffic began to move and the next thing I know I am sitting beside the truck at the stop light. At that moment it hit me that the driver of the truck is a person that is racing to nowhere.　 Do you find yourself in a rush and running to get to a destination? Living in the sunshine state and having access to beautiful sunrises and incredible sunsets, we have an opportunity to experience everyday what others envy and come to experience on their vacation. By having this paradise at our fingertips it’s easy to forget what brought us here in the first place. We begin to overlook the attraction of the area as our lives become engulfed with, well – life. Have you ever watched a drop of water falling onto a liquid surface? Possibly you recall watching raindrops hit puddles. Seeing this in slow motion or in a photo during the action of the drop hitting the surface can be mesmerizing. The action is dramatic as the drop splashes into the surface spreading up in the most dynamic dance, bringing different light and texture while being beautiful all at the same time.
